In addition to general comparison/contrast, students will be provided with opportunity for specific biblical evaluation of historical topics. Threads will be open the entire week, and students are encouraged to participate throughout the time they are open. Responses will be a minimum of 100 words with no maximum. The student will then participate in discussion of the topic by posting a minimum of 2 responses, either to 2 different threads, or in combination with responding to questions/comments on his or her own thread. Therefore, the student will participate in two different threads by writing an initial thread of 300-400 words in response to the assigned topic. Textbook readings and lecture presentationsĪfter reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.ĭiscussions are collaborative learning experiences. It is a required prerequisite for upper-level courses in European history, and it may also fulfill a portion of the General Education requirement. This survey course introduces students to political, economic, military, religious, and cultural developments of the ancient, medieval, and early modern periods that constitute the foundation for the modern West.
